The sliced bread, from the French “pain carré”, also called pane in cassetta, pan bauletto, pane da sandwich, pane da tramezzini, pane da toast, is a type of bread, often containing butter or vegetable fats, generally used for the preparation of toast or for toasting in general.
The sliced bread, once cooled and toasted properly, gives rise to the toasted bread, traditionally consumed during breakfast.
